PitWall

Change the call. Replay the race.

A deterministic Formula 1 strategy simulator. Edit a driver's pit plan, then see whether the alternate call gains time, loses time, or gets trapped in traffic.

The idea

F1 strategy is full of counterfactuals. What if they had pitted a lap earlier? PitWall loads real FastF1 lap data, lets you edit stints and compounds, and replays the race against a ghost field.

AI parses your strategy text. The simulator owns every lap time, gap, and position.

The build

  1. 1Eight FastAPI endpoints with validation-gated engine selection and natural-language strategy parsing.
  2. 2An OLS model spanning driver pace, tyre compound, degradation, fuel, pit loss, and passability, validated to within 1.27 finishing places.
  3. 3An optimizer that enumerates legal 1 to 3 stop strategies, drops stints shorter than four laps, and re-simulates the 30 fastest finalists.
  4. 4A Model Lab that compares a conservative OLS path with a calibrated full-field simulation and picks by validation score.

I like Formula 1 a lot, especially Lewis Hamilton. Building a pit wall was inevitable.

What happened

A working simulator where AI can parse strategy text and write narration, but the simulator owns every lap time, gap, position, and optimizer choice.

Building something, hiring, or just want to talk? I'd like to hear about it.
